The President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Bandar Hajjar, is on an official visit to Uzbekistan from September 17 to 20. On Tuesday, the 'Day of the IBR Group' conference was held at the International Hotel Tashkent with the participation of ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan, representatives of the private sector, the diplomatic corps, and international financial institutions of the republic.
'The Islamic Development Bank (IBR) and the government of Uzbekistan signed a partnership strategy for 2018-2021 on Tuesday, which provides for the allocation of funds amounting to $1.3 billion,' the statement said.
The relevant document was signed on Tuesday in Tashkent by the Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Investments of Uzbekistan Sukhrob Kholmurodov and the President of IBR Bandar Hajjar.
The bank intends to support the republic in the development of projects in the field of economy and innovative activities. Of this, $475 million will be directed to energy, transport, and urban development, $300 million for housing and infrastructure construction in rural areas, another $300 million for supporting trade financing, $140 million for social development, and $85 million for private business projects.
